Lamont Coleman was a rapper from New York in the late 80s through the 90s. He was known for his fierce freestyles and battle rap skills. His most famous tracks are Danger Zone and a radio freestyle session with Jay Z.
But there is a lot to Big L that the world doesn't know.Firstly, he was affiliated with drug crews running around in Harlem in the 80s.
His Elder brother Lee was a strong memeber of a notorious gang called NFL (Niggaz For Life) from 139th street.
This was the place described by Big L in his Danger Zone track.NFL was formed originally by 3 guys named Lee (Big L's brother) Reg and TC.
They were well known and widely respected in Harlem.
Years went by and things soured between the friends and they began hunting each other.
Lee was sent to prison for a crime and while in prison, he planned to take out his rivals in the drug game.He sent his younger brother (Big L)to identify the target so the hitman could do the job.
Unfortunately, the hitman botched the job and the target escaped but word got back that Big L was seen with the hitman days earlier.
On February 15th 1999, Big L ws shot 9 times in the face and died.
And that was how the world lost a rapper with one of the biggest talent and potential to reach the highest heights in Rap Music.
RIP BIG L.Gone but never forgotten
